<0.6% of the AI field is working to make it safe.
AISW is a student society tackling AI risks from technical, policy, and business perspectives.
Why this matters
Advanced AI systems are being deployed faster than our understanding of how to make them safe, predictable, and accountable. This raises questions: how do we ensure an autonomous system will behave as intended? How do we prevent bad actors from using them for harm?
AI Safety & Governance is a student society at Western. We discuss the risks posed by advanced AI, and foster a community at Western capable of engaging with this problem across disciplines.

Launch your AI safety career with our fellowship
Our 8-week introductory fellowship leads small groups through an interdisciplinary course covering how AI works, why it misbehaves, and what can be done about it through technical research and governance.
